Georgia 1-1 Czechia: Patrik Schick scores first goal at Euro 2024 to rescue crucial point

Georgia and Czechia played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in Hamburg to leave their qualification to the knockout stages of Euro 2024 alive.

Patrik Schick s sixth European Championship goal, surpassing Milan Baros, cancelled out Georges Mikautadze’s penalty opener but despite their dominance the Czechs could not force the win they needed.

They now have to beat Turkey in their final Group F match to stand a chance of progressing to the knockout stage, while minnows Georgia face an even more formidable task against Portugal.

An additional concern was a calf injury to Schick, whose six-goal haul from the last two Euros is more than Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane have scored, late in the second half.

Georgia again entertained but were under the cosh throug…

England player ratings v Switzerland: Saka, Mainoo impress as Walker struggles continue

That was a close one. England have made the semi-finals of Euro 2024 after edging past Switzerland in a penalty shootout. Here are the player ratings.

It was a much-improved performance compared to last time, but s issues with chance creation still shone through as the game went the full distance.

Here are the player ratings.

Jordan Pickford
Up until Breel Embolo put one past him in the 75th minute, Pickford didn’t have much to do. He was almost caught out by a clever Xherdan Shaqiri corner in extra time, but thankfully the post came to his rescue.

The 30-year-old boasts a good record when it comes to saving penalties and the shootout was where he really came into his own.

After delaying Manuel Akanji for as long as human…

Romano reveals three Chelsea transfer priorities; responds to £35m links to Fulham star

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Chelsea s three priorities for the transfer window and responds to the Blues links with Fulham star Andreas Pereira.

Chelsea have spent over £1bn in two seasons under their American owners but have been more circumspect so far this summer, bringing in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo for around £65m.

Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson have all been sold for a combined £90m as they look to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability rules, and further additions will be made with avoiding sanctions in mind.

They continue to look for buyers for Conor Gallagher, with Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Aston Villa all interested in the midfielder, valued by the Chelsea c…

Ange Postecoglou admits pre-season frustration amid injuries and Tottenham transfer failures

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has conceded that the pre-season has included some wasted efforts for the club in the transfer market and on the pitch.

Postecoglou has been forced to deploy players out of position in friendly matches ahead of the season.

He believes that the flat performances of the Spurs side is not an accurate reflection of the work that has been done by the group.

The coach also believes that were a little leggy in their friendly loss to Bayern as a result of pre-season conditioning work.

I thought it was a tough game for us, Postecoglou said after Tottenham s 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in South Korea on Saturday.

Fair to say the players are feeling the effects of us working hard for the last 10 days here and we didn …

Chelsea ‘bomb squad’ member on Euro giant radar, with Blues return short-lived

Carney Chukwuemeka is reportedly an obsession for AC Milan, who are again looking to sign him, meaning his return to the Chelsea first team may have been short-lived.

Chukwuemeka is one of a few Blues players yet to be used this season. Indeed, they were looking to find a way to ship him out, and as such added him to their bomb squad .

That was a group of players who had been removed from first-team activities while their futures were resolved. For Chukwuemeka, that did not happen, and Enzo Maresca has since stated he really really likes the midfielder, and will use him.

But his return to the Chelsea first-team squad could be short-lived. At the back end of the summer, it was suggested that he was on the radar of AC Milan.

Now, Chukwuemeka is an obsessi…

It’s really busy but it’s what we want, we had an incredible week in every sense, emotionally, physically, in terms of learning as well as a coach, we had a issues we had to deal with it, and for what I had in my mind in the international break to actually what happened and the players we had available, it was very different, it’s been good.

On whether he has any hobbies outside of football, Arteta added: No, my biggest one is to spend time with my wife and my kids when I have time, yeah tennis is one of them I don’t have a lot of time to play my kids try to get me to play Playstation, Mario Kart these things, I’m not a big fan of that yet.

When asked what sets apart this current group of players in the Arsenal squad from previous, Arteta continued: Well I t…
